Penfield Homes for Sale

A Connected Community

A Big Town with Small-Town Charm

Named for its founder, Daniel Penfield, Penfield officially became a town in 1810. This collection of Penfield homes formed the first of seven east-side towns to be established in Monroe County.

The town had a population of about 3,000 residents until World War II when agriculture began to decline in the area and suburban development came into play. Today, roughly 36,000 people call this place home.

There are lots of ways to meet new people who share your interests. Multiple clubs and organizations meet in town regularly. Or perhaps you’re looking for a place where you can delve deeper into your faith. There are lots of places of worship in town or in the neighboring communities. You might consider checking out the Penfield Amphitheater to see one of the free shows put on throughout the summer if you love going to shows. People of all ages and backgrounds can find something to interest them in and near Penfield!

This town is an amazing opportunity to live in a growing suburban area that has maintained an appealing small-town community feeling.

Continuing to learn

Giving kids and adults a place to thrive

Students in town are served by four different school districts. Most students attend Penfield Central School District, but roughly one-third of the town is located in the Webster Central School District. Only a handful of students from the town attend Pittsford Central School District or Wayne Central School District.

Adults can continue their education too, or help others learn by getting involved with the Local History Room. The Local History Room encourages public participation by lending items of local historical interest or by joining the committee to help make decisions about future displays.

If you are more enthusiastic about reading a good book than taking a class, stop by the Penfield Library. Not only does the library have a plethora of excellent books, but they also host programs for children and adults. Some of the programs are of a more entertaining nature, like decorating ornaments for the holidays. Others serve to educate adults on serious matters, like understanding health insurance and enrolling in the best program for your situation.

Whether you’re more interested in learning, teaching, or sending kids to school, Penfield may be the perfect place for you.

Something for everyone

Indoors, outdoors, all around town

It’s easy to find things to do around town.

Love to spend time outdoors? There are several excellent options for the nature lover! For instance, visit Thousand Acre Swamp’s beautiful boardwalk and trails, or any of the numerous parks in town. If you want to meet up with other outdoor enthusiasts, there’s even a guided hike held at one of the parks each month.

On the other hand, you can sign up for local events that meet indoors instead. Penfield Recreation and Penfield TV have community calendars that highlight other local events featuring everything from town board meetings to cookie exchange fundraisers.

Looking for something a little less structured? Grab dinner at Hong Wah Restaurant or Joey’s Pasta House. Or check out Wickham Farms with a friend or your family. They have miniature golf, a batting cage, a jumping pillow, and a corn maze. Catch even bigger rides less than 20 minutes away from the heart of town, at Seabreeze Amusement Park.

One of the convenient things about this community is its proximity to Lake Ontario. Fun days at the beach are only a short drive away! The town is also just a few minutes away from Rochester, meaning residents have easy access to anything in the city but can come home to their quiet homes at the end of every day.
